Capacity Swap Begins: Pulling Old Vats For Low-Liquor-Ratio Lines

   Yangtze River Delta dyeing mills have been busy this August - not chasing orders, but pulling old dye vats. The first question from an overseas buyer used to be "FOB price?"; now, before any quotation, it has quietly become "Do you run auditable low-liquor-ratio dyeing?" Three EIA filings landed in one week from the Shaoxing Ecology and Environment Bureau: Jinxianghui, Xinshu and Chuangcai Knit together scrapped more than forty 250–500 kg legacy overflow dyeing machines and more than a dozen printing machines, replacing them in place with high-capacity low-liquor-ratio overflow vats and high-speed digital printing lines - same output, modern gear. The phrase doing the rounds in the trade is "capacity swap, stock quality lift."
   The shift did not come out of nowhere. Three ministries have just opened the 2026 Textile Energy Efficiency Leader application, covering four categories including knitted yarn and polyester filament. Dyestuff intermediates remain at year-highs; H-acid has hit a fresh high, and integrated mill utilization across Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shandong sits at 70%–78%. Orders have not slowed, but energy caps have tightened - the contest now is who can make the same number of fabrics with less water, steam and coal.
